about me

I'm currently working for Sky News in London, cutting short news pieces, half-hour and hour-long specials and documentaries.

In 2001 I started a masters degree in Communication Design at London's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. My exposure to designers and artists (filmmakers, photographers, graphic designers, illustrators and typographers) from around the world has helped me sharpen my understanding of visual design, structure and narrative. In 2003 the degree was awarded with distinction.

Prior to that I had been working as in-house editor for Johannesburg based production company Curious Pictures. I edited music programmes, game shows, docu-dramas and documentaries.

During my earlier period of freelancing, I had the chance to be assistant editor to one of South Africa's top film editors, Avril Beukes. I also did a 10-month stint as promo producer at the SABC, during which time I won a Best Promo award from the South African Guild of Editors.

In 1998 I completed a four year humanities degree at the University of Cape Town (UCT), coming top of my class.

Between leaving school and going to UCT, I spent 2 years in Hamburg, Germany, doing various film related apprenticeships. It was working in a film laboratory that established my original interest in post-production.
